Bad, Bad, Bad Chris & Angela

We have had a terrible weekend as far as eating right goes.  We had a birthday party for our five year old daughter and planned ahead as far as what to eat so we weren't tempted by the pizza.  The problem came when we had so much cake left over and didn't have the heart to throw it away.  We SHOULD have thrown it away.  I was hungry by the time we got home and I ended up eating two plate fulls of cake.  I was miserable afterwards and was feeling very guilty.  We threw the cake in the trash on Sunday...but not before Chris had some.  To top the cake debaucle(sp?) off, we ate out several times.  I didn't eat too terrible (I'll spare you guys the delicious details) but I ate more than I needed to and some things that I did not need to.  Then there was the whole Valentine's thing.  We always have candy at work but I gave into it this week.  Then we swore to get back on track after our 4lb gain each but have both eaten not so good tonight.  We ARE getting back on track tomorrow.  I have already gotten lunches ready and have dinner planned for tomorrow night.  Now all I need to do is get back to drinking my water daily.

    Rough Weekend

Well, we had a rough weekend but we made it through and still had losses on the scale this morning.  Our little girl went to sleep Friday night okay, but woke up with a temperature.  I took her to the pediatrician today to find out that she has an ear infection, tonsilitus and conjunctivitus.  She has been an trooper and feels okay until she starts getting worn out.  She needs more sleep.  Anyway, this challenge had us wanting to eat what ever was easy...which usually means unhealthy.  BUT, I talked Chris out of pizza and into Subway.  We both had footlong subs, but that was better than eating some of the alternatives.  Oh, and to those who don't know, Girl Scouts are out selling cookies, so BEWARE!  I had to walk past not one, but two tables so far.  It is hard, but I did it!  Be strong.  Take care.

    Just checking in

Well, we both weighed in on Monday and had good weeks.  I lost 3 1/2lbs and Chris lost 2lbs.  We've been doing really good on our food choices and calories this week.  I have even managed to get on the treadmill every night.  It is my goal to walk at the very least one mile every day.  I'm trying to do more but I'm not a fast walker and can only walk about 1.5 miles in 30 minutes at a speed of 3 or 3.2.  That might not seem like much, but it is a challenge for me.  One of my goals is to be able to do a 15 minute mile!  I'll get there.  Hope everyone is having a great week.

    3rd Weigh-In

Well, we got on the scale this past Monday and as I had feared, it had not been a great week for me.  BUT, I did lose 1/2lb.  A loss is a loss and I will take it.  I feel strongly that our next Monday will be a good weigh in for me.  Chris lost another 3lbs so that is great!  Considering we have not been exercising, our weight loss has gone well.  We really need to get into a routine and incorporate exercise but we have just been concentrating on the eating right part for now.  We have a treadmill so there really is not excuse except for laziness.  I really don't know how people do it.  We both work 40+ hours each week and we have a VERY active 5 year old little girl.  Where do people find the time?

    Week End Review

Well, this weekend has come and gone so quickly as they always do.  We have done good on our eating for the most part.  We probably did not get enought of the "pyramid" like veggies and fruits but we didn't eat bad.  We haven't exercised at all this weekend or very much during the week.  I'm not looking forward to the scale tomorrow.  Chris has probably had a really good week.  A loss is a loss, so I hope I have one.  I'll let you all know tomorrow.  Hope everyone has a great week.  We will be getting back on the exercise train!

    Actual Weight

I have seen on sooooo many brave people's spaces that they have listed their actual weights.  I have decided that making my weight public is just another motivation to make sure that I never see that weight again so starting tonight it will be posted.  Embarrassed

    2nd Weigh-In

Okay.  We had our second weigh in.  It went well for me, not so well for Chris.  He had a rough week and "fell off the wagon" a couple times.  He still managed to lose about half a pound while I lost 3.4 pounds.  Considering I only managed to get on the treadmill once last week, I am happy with 3.4 pounds but I still need to incorporate exercise into my every day life...for life.  We did exercise tonight!  We did the low cardio workout on The Biggest Loser 2 DVD.  Let me tell you, we are soooo out of shape.  BUT we have started the workout process and it's all up hill from here...literally!

    The Struggle

We are both feeling weak and struggling today.  We both still stuck to healthy foods but may have gone over our allotted amounts in certain categories.  We stayed up late watching the snow last night (we don't get snow very often) thinking we would probably not have to work today.  Oops.  We stayed up too late and had to get up early since it started to rain and cleared up all the ice.  When we are tired, we tend to eat more so that is probably a big part of our problem today.  So, I'm off to fix lunch and then to bed.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day.

    1st Weigh-In

Just a quick note to say that we had our first weigh-in.  I lost 5lbs and Chris lost 7.6lbs.  We are off to a good start.  Now we just need to get off our butts and exercise.  It is so hard though.  We come home from work, cook, eat, clean, bathe our daughter.  When do we squeeze in the exercise?  I'm off to get lunch ready for tomorrow and then if all goes well, I'm going to use the new treadmill for the first time!

    Rough-in the Weekend

Well, we have made it through our first weekend relatively unscathed.  The weekends are the hardest part for us.  We want to fall back into our old habits of eating out all weekend or going out and having a big, unhealthy breakfast.  However, we did not.  I cooked omelettes for Hannah and myself on Saturday (Chris had to work).  I used the Eggbeater eggs, low fat ham and fat free shredded cheese.  It was good enough even for an almost 5-year old to eat.  We did go out to dinner Saturday night but we both ate sensibly.  It was hard but we did it and I am so proud of both of us, especially Chris.  Then Sunday we got up and cooked whole wheat english muffins with turkey sausage, Eggbeaters and fat free american cheese.  They were very good.  We had a late lunch of left over chicken fajitas from The Biggest Loser cookbook.  They were so good the other night that we thoroughly enjoyed the left overs too.  I tweaked the recipe a little by using three whole jalepenos.  It definitely spiced up our lives (I've never cooked with fresh jalapenos beforeSurprised) but it was still very good.  Since we had a late lunch, we weren't hungry enough for a full dinner so we had salads with ham and for dessert we had banana milkshakes which consists of one banana, one cup of 2% milk, ice and Sweet-N-Low.  They are very low in calories, you get a fruit and a protein and they are delicious.  We feel like we are being bad when we are not.  We have our first weigh-in tomorrow so wish us luck.  I think it will be a good first week for both of us.  I'm actually excited about getting on the scale.

    Day Three

So far, so good, on eating anyway.  We have both been following the guidelines in The Biggest Loser book on what to eat and not to eat to maintain a healthy diet.  We have enjoyed several new recipes and tonight we enjoyed an old favorite from the book, Doc's Chili.  It is really good and enough for at least two dinners which means one night off cooking duty for me. Hot  Even Hannah liked it!  We have both been exhausted this week so the exercise is yet to come.  We will get there and when we do, oh boy.  We know The Biggest Loser DVD's well and Bob does kick some butt.  But that is what we need and want (sort of). One of our biggest weaknesses is getting on the scale every day to see how we have progressed.  We have both been able to resist it and that is good.  Sometimes getting on it frequently is a good thing when it shows weight loss but on those days that it does not, it can be bad so we are both showing great restraint.  I'm looking forward to weighing in on Monday to see the results.

    Before photos

We have added our before photos and I'm so embarrassed but I figure a little humiliation will help motivate us to keep going towards our goals. I look forward to posting progressive photos showing our success.

    Getting Started

We get started Monday January 7th.  No more excuses.  We aren't just doing this for ourselves, but we're doing it for our daughter, Hannah.  We want to be healthy so we can live long enough to watch her grow up, but also so she learns to be healthy early.  We don't want her to have the same struggles we have had all our lives.
